Our Story and Why Us?
atypicalthinking is a neurodiverse consulting business providing organisational expertise utilising unique atypical patterns of thought – via business planning, policy development and more.
We also strive to educate and inform business leaders, governments, the criminal justice system, and the community about neurodiversity and how it fits or interacts with society.
I hear you saying, what on earth does all that mean; and why should I care?
It means our team can provide organisations with a unique and personalised way of planning and problem solving by harnessing the ‘superpowers’ of people living with neurodevelopmental differences, such as Autism, ADHD and more.
We use the gift of neurodiversity (rather than its deficits) which comes from having Autism, ADHD and other neurodevelopmental differences, to create a truly unique and original approach to an organisation’s needs.
Many people with autism and ADHD, for example, have extraordinary skills, including pattern recognition, memory, and mathematical skills. However, they often struggle to fit the profiles sought by employers, therefore are unable to enter the workforce, or ‘mask’ or hide their differences to fit in – meaning their talents are often missed or underutilised.
Increasingly, workplaces are seeing the benefit of hiring consultants and employees with ASD. These benefits include the ability to maintain sustained concentration (hyperfocus), superior memory, strong attention to detail, high integrity, faster problem solving and so much more.
Academic research has shown that diverse workforces with neurodiverse talent (particularly Autism), see significant productivity gains, quality improvement boosts in innovative capabilities, and increased employee engagement. This is because neurodiverse people are wired differently from “neurotypical” people.
All this means that our team at atypicalthinking brings new perspectives to your organisation’s efforts to have that superior edge over competitors and place you at the front of the pack.
